Skills, Training, Readiness, Independence and Vocational Empowerment (STRIVE) is a course developed for young people seeking to gain the skills to live independently, enrol in training, or find employment.

The STRIVE program is highly interactive and delivered through onsite immersive experiences as well as offsite explorations. Throughout the course learners develop skills in independent living, explore prospective careers, meet with industry specialists, and prepare for job searching and starting work or further education via apprenticeships or traineeships.

The duration of the STRIVE program is 26 weeks.

Attendance is 4 days per week, 5 hours per day.

  • FSKLRG010 Use routine strategies for career planning
  • FSKNUM008 Use whole numbers and simple fractions, decimals and percentages for work
  • FSKNUM014 Calculate with whole numbers and familiar fractions, decimals and percentages for work
  • FSKNUM015 Estimate, measure and calculate with routine metric measurements for work
  • FSKRDG007 Read and respond to simple workplace information
  • FSKRDG010 Read and respond to routine workplace information
  • FSKWTG006 Write simple workplace information
  • FSKWTG009 Write routine workplace texts
  • FSKDIG003 Use digital technology for non-routine workplace tasks
  • BSBTEC201 Use business software applications
  • BSBTEC203 Research using the internet

Course Outcome

Course Outcome

On successful completion learners will receive a Statement of Attainment for successfully completed units.
