At the same time, the course builds a clear understanding of the role of a disability support worker.

At Pivot Training, our training focuses on real-world application. The course includes in‑person workshops, supported online study, practical assessments, and a supervised work placement. In addition, you may use successfully completed units as credit towards further study in community services or health qualifications. Entry Requirements

While there are no formal entry requirements for CHCSS00133 Induction to Disability Support, you will need to:

  • Be able to safely perform manual handling and lifting
  • Obtain an applicable screening check prior to work placement
  • Provide evidence of a flu vaccination before training starts
  • Have access to a computer that meets the system requirements for this course
  • Attend an information session to assess your suitability for the course

Delivery Information

Pivot training delivers this course through blended learning, with the online component completed via supported eLearning.

While studying this course you should allow an average of 10 hours of study per week. Throughout the course Pivot Training provides additional support via phone, email, or video call as required.

In addition, you will attend two face-to-face practical workshops at Pivot Training’s Skills Lab. These workshops support hands-on skill development and prepare you to use your skills in real-world disability and community services settings.

If you are not already employed in the sector, Pivot Training supports you to complete the required 35 hours of compulsory workplace application of skills to assess competency. This placement experience helps build readiness for entry-level disability support roles across the community, accommodation, and NDIS-related settings.

Course Outcome

This course provides a nationally recognised foundation for learners who are considering entry-level pathways into disability support and community services. In addition, it supports learners who want to build confidence before progressing into further training.

On successful completion, you will receive the CHCSS00133 Induction to Disability Support, or a Statement of Attainment for partial completion. You may use completed units as credits towards a range of qualifications in the CHC Community Services Training Package and HLT Health Training Package.

In practice, the skills gained through this course align with entry-level expectations for disability support roles. These include safe work practices, effective communication, and person-centred support. As a result, this skill set may support progression into further study or employment pathways related to disability support jobs, such as disability support worker, disability community support worker, or NDIS support worker.
